I am a senior citizen, widowed recently, who reads every chance I get. I am a Mom, a Grandma, and live in the rural "burbs" of Pa. I love the country, the scenery and taking drives to admire the deer, bear, and all the woodland animals that abound here. I am originally from Queens, N.Y. and relocated 25 yrs. ago. I love where I am, but I believe, underneath it all, once a New Yorker, always a New Yorker. My husband passed away recently, and my reading has been a close compainion, as well as a diversion. Since reading has been a constant love of mine that is natural for me. As a child I read all of Nancy Drew, Beverly Gray, and just about every book I could get hold of. Many times I was grounded for reading under the covers, with a flashlight, instead of sleeping. There are very few pleasures more interesting and entertaining to me than a good book. I was somewhat of a writer in High School. I was taken out of English, put into Creative Writing, to become a contributor to the school magazine. What a thrill to see myself listed as an author. They were only short stories from time to time, but if I had had the time, I would have pursued and honed my craft. I do not regret marrying and being a Mom, but I should have taken the time to write about that experience. There are many stories Moms can tell that other Moms would identify with ala Erma Bombeck for one. I feel badly for anyone who has not known the joys of reading. My parents, as well as my sisters, share that love. Find a good book, and enjoy!!
God bless, GInaK
